What To Think About Before Buying Netbooks.

Recently the netbook is gaining popularity because of its low price and its feature as a secondary mobile computer useful for light task computing such as browsing, creating documents, playing audio, video and light games. The netbook is energy-efficient and weigh less than 1.5kg. It is very useful for people who are mobile.

Buying a netbook involves many considerations and considering the following factors will be important to get the best value for money.

One of the most important factor is battery life. Most netbooks in general will last for at least 3 hours but it depends to which kind of programs you are running, the graphic processor used and also the main CPU. We could now see that there are various kinds of CPU's but it seems that the Intel Atom is quite dominant in powering most recent popular netbooks. Intel's new N280 CPU that launched around February was reportedly energy efficient compared to its predecessor, the N270. Well, CPU power draw definitely accounts for a significant percentage of a netbook's power consumption, but it is far from the only factor.

Some netbooks are equipped with a 3G broadband modem and an accompanying SIM card that allows you to connect to the web using the same wireless network as mobile phones. This feature will be useful for mobile users who are constantly connected to the internet.

The netbook screen plays an important part. The bigger a netbook’s screen, the larger and heavier it will be. Netbooks with 10 inch screens or smaller weigh 1.3kg or less, while models with 12in screens are heavier. The netbooks with 10 inch screens will have a good resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels, which is large enough for browsing the web and editing documents. To get a higher resolution which makes creating and manipulating documents easier go for a 12 inch screen.

The disadvantage of a netbook lies on the fiddly keyboard. Netbooks with larger screens tend to have more room for a larger keyboard, but even they have a few undersize keys. Otherwisw probably you will get used to the small sized keyboards.

Some netbooks offer support of multitouch geastures, so you can perform actions such as scrolling through windows.

Some of the netbooks have advance features such as touchscreen displays and styluses, which are useful for notetaking and graphics.

Hard disks range in size from 60GB to 250GB. If you only need to store office documents, you can get away with a smaller disk.
