Sony launched its P-Series Lifestyle PC in January. It is an 8-inch laptop computer that competes or maybe succeeds the netbook-level computers. It is very small so it could suit in to a wallet. Very compact sized form factor.

This computer doesn't fit in to a netbook, a laptop or a tablet category. It is already August but the P-Series already went to a price drop.

When it appeared, reviewers were keen on the P-Series’ form factor but less so on its sluggish hardware and its almost $2,000 price tag. This is probably why it lacked on sales.

On the first week in July, we received news that Sony will join the netbook market by releasing its own netbook called the Sony Vaio W. Specification showed that it doesn't differ from netbooks by other popular netbook brands.

The Sony Vaio W features 10.1-inch LED backlit widescreen display (1368 x 768-pixel resolution. The processor of this netbook is the 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 processor which includes a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz for faster data transfer on demanding mobile applications and a 512 KB L2 cache (which temporarily stores data).

Hard drive installed as much as 160 GB with memory of 1 GB of DDR2 RAM. Graphic processor is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The Vaio W also has a webcam named the Motion Eye. For connectivity it also has Draft-N Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g/n) for greater speed and range and also Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity that enables you to communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and cell phones as well as enjoy wireless stereo music streaming (thanks to its embedded A2DP profile).

Many laptops with similar specs are sold at $299-$399, while Sony says the Vaio W "will retail for about $500." This price tag is confirmed at Amazon.com showing the same price. The premium price is probably in line with a higher-resolution screen at 1,366x768. There's also 802.11n Wi-Fi, a separate Memory Stick slot (on top of the standard SD card slot), Bluetooth, and Sony's typical fit and finish, which usually includes excellent keyboards and touchpads and also the capability og Sony's proprietary media softwarethat could connect to other DLNA devices easily, including the Playstation 3.

The Vaio W is 1.3 inches thick, weighs 2.6 pounds, and will come in three colors--berry pink, sugar white, and cocoa brown. If your interested in this product, you could order it right now at Amazon. Click here to go to the product page.
