Personal computing just got a whole lot smaller with the slender HP Mini 1151NR netbook from Verizon Wireless, which provides fast internet access anywhere cell phone coverage is available with a Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband plan. Measuring just 1 inch thin and weighing just 2.45 pounds, the HP Mini is perfect for your always-on and always on-the-go lifestyle, providing a convenient alternative to your primary notebook PC as well as quick, easy access to online resources and digital entertainment--all at an exceptional value.

The Mini 1151NR has 10.1-inch LED-backlit display for an expansive viewing area compared to other mobile devices as well as a comfortable, near-full-size keyboard (92 percent). An 80 GB hard disk drive (HDD) provides a wealth of on-the-go storage, and it's powered by the 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, which is designed especially for mobile devices and features an innovative hafnium-infused circuitry that reduces electrical current leakage in transistors to conserve energy.

The integrated 54g Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g) will keep you connected to email and all your social networks, while the built-in HP Mini Webcam keeps you close to friends and relatives. Other features include 1 GB of RAM (maximum capacity), Bluetooth connectivity, built-in speakers and microphone, SD/MMC memory card reader, 3-cell battery, and stylish HP Imprint finish. It comes preinstalled with the Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system, which offers more experienced users an enhanced and innovative experience that incorporates Windows Live features like Windows Live Messenger for instant messaging and Windows Live Mail for consolidated email accounts on your desktop.

Verizon Wireless Service
With Mobile Broadband Built-In service and the HP Mini netbook from Verizon Wireless, a high-speed connection to the web is always in reach with typical download speeds ranging from 600 Kbps and peak rates up to 1.4 Mbps. The VZAccesss Manager software allows you to manage, monitor and customize your wireless network activity through an easy-to-use interface, enabling you to choose the best connection option--either 3G broadband or Wi-Fi networking. Using the lightweight HP Mini 1151NR, you can access the Internet, email and browse the Web quickly and reliably with service plans that begin at $39.99 monthly access. Add Verizon Wireless' Global Service and the HP Mini 1151NR becomes a workhorse in more than 175 destinations; more than 45 of those destinations offer 3G speeds. You'll be able to select from two Mobile Broadband plans:

  • $39.99 monthly access for 250 MB monthly allowance and 10 cents per megabyte overage
  • $59.99 monthly access with a 5 GB monthly allowance and 5 cents per megabyte overage

Processor
The Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure that packs in 47 million transistors into a single chip sized at just 22mm (0.87 inches), and it uses just 2.5 watts of power--less than 1/10 of the 35 watts used by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor--for excellent battery management. This 1.6 GHz Atom N270 processor also includes a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz for faster data transfer on demanding mobile applications and a 512 KB L2 cache (which temporarily stores data).

Storage & Memory
This version of the HP Mini comes with an 80 GB hard disk drive (4200 RPM), which is small when compared to full-sized notebooks but is plentiful for the tasks a netbook is designed for--surfing the web and storing a decent sized digital media library. This netbook also comes with 1 GB of of system RAM, which is the maximum capacity for this device.

Screen, Video & Audio
The 10.1-inch HP BrightView anti-reflective display delivers an expansive viewing area compared to other mobile devices, and it features flush glass, an LED backlight, and a 1024 x 576-pixel resolution. HP's BrightView technology improves the contrast and clarity of your notebook display so colors are brighter and images are more lifelike. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which uses Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT) and provides up to 128 MB of graphics memory shared with the system memory. This netbook also includes two built-in stereo speakers and an integrated audio chip that's compatible with HD Audio.

Keyboard & Trackpad
The 82-key, near-full-size (92 percent) keyboard is more comfortable for most than the thumb keys on smartphones and PDAs. The electrostatic touchpad has an on/off button and dedicated scroll up/down pad.

DVD/CD Drive
Because of its size, the HP Mini does not come with an integrated optical drive, but optional CD/DVD read/write drives can be connected to the laptop via one of the three USB ports, enabling you to create your music mixes, burn movies to DVD, and more.

Connectivity
In addition to its integrated 3G cellular broadband connectivity, this HP Mini notebook has an integrated 54g wireless LAN that's compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g wireless networks, as well as an Ethernet jack for plugging into a wired network. With the integrated Bluetooth connectivity, you can communicate and synchronize with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals such as PDAs and cell phones as well as use Bluetooth-enabled headsets for handsfree video chats. To increase your storage capabilities, you can access optional Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards. Here's the full list of connectivity options:
